Note
Students must pay the tuition fees and dormitory rent in advance from Nepal. Once the payment is confirmed, the Japanese college will send the Certificate of Eligibility (COE) along with other required original documents. These documents are necessary for applying for a student visa.
After arriving in Japan
Dormitory
Many schools/colleges offer dormitory accommodation for international students, which typically costs between ¥20,000 and ¥40,000 per month.
Meals:
Cooking at home is more economical, with an estimated cost of around ¥30,000 per month.
If you go to a restaurant, a normal meal can cost between Rs 800 and Rs 1500.
National Health Insurance (NHI) for Students:
This depends on the municipality and income level:
If you have no or very low income: Costs around ¥10,000–¥15,000 per year.
NHI covers 70% of medical expenses (hospital visits, treatments, etc.), so you only have to pay 30%.
Miscellaneous Expenses
Books and Supplies: Textbooks and study materials can annual cost around ¥10,000 to ¥20,000 as per school.
